TRANSITIONS

The topic of the month for us at Scene 13 is transitions. My biggest transition? Going from unpublished writer to published author!

My debut, Triangles, comes out on June 18. This journey has been amazing, scary, fun, upsetting, thrilling, and ulcer-inducing all at the same time.

Some of the best stuff?

*getting that offer of publication!

*working with amazing editors and cover designers

*seeing my cover for the first time

*holding my book for the first time

*reading good reviews from people who enjoyed the story

*seeing the book spotlighted in the Bermuda News

*signing my book at BEA

Some of the scary stuff?

*worrying if people will like it

*worrying about how well it will do when it’s released

*worrying about promotion, if I’m doing enough to get the book out there

*reading reviews of people who didn’t care for it

In life, every step, every transition, tends to have all those elements I mentioned above. That’s what makes life worth living—the emotional roller coaster we take when we do something worth it. Something like writing. So as I transition from unpublished to published, I will take the ride—and the good with the bad—and learn from it as best I can, improve my writing and my stories, and welcome whatever transitions are ahead of me!
