Embrace Your Obstacles

We all have unseen dangers and challenges in our lives, regardless of age, education, profession, or ability. Obstacles can beat us down or make us stronger. They can give us a new set of goals that change the course of our lives. They can change our personal definition of success, or make us realize we’ve been on the wrong path all along.

Whatever the situation may be, it’s how we deal with these obstacles that determine who we are. I can’t tell you how many people have discovered their true calling because of a tragedy that swept them away from their shiny hopes and dreams, but the truer tragedy is wandering around like a zombie with no ambition at all.

Embrace life’s challenges, because they’ll find you either way. Don’t make them bigger than they are. Let them confirm that you know what you want, that whatever it is is worth every ounce of effort, patience, and sacrifice. If you find it isn’t, let them put you on a better path. Let them make you stronger, wiser. Let them prove your heart is in the right place.

Here are some quotes that have stayed with me over the years:

“Your mind is the most powerful tool you have for the creation of good in your life, but if not used correctly, can be the most destructive force in your life.”
–unknown

“With millions of obstacles in the world- don’t let that little voice in your head be one of them”
-unknown

“Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.”
– Harriet Beecher Stowe

“If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.” -Milton Berle

“When you can’t change the direction of the wind, adjust your sails.”
-H. Jackson Brown Jr.

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”
–Winston Churchill

  1. Love Milton quote and this one: “Your mind is the most powerful tool you have for the creation of good in your life, but if not used correctly, can be the most destructive force in your life.”
